Deeltei Mongol Festival Held at Sukhbaatar Square

Previously, we announced that the 4th annual “Deeltei Mongol” (Mongolians in Deel) movement will be held within the framework of the project “Ulaanbaatar City’s Tourism”.Then, the movement was held successfully on the Sukhbaatar square in Ulaanbaatar from 11:00 am to 5:00pm on July 13, 2010.
So many people were took part in the movement and they all wear Mongolian national costume “Deel” and companies, school and colleges supported the movement’s initiative, dressing in deel all together.
The movement appealed to all Mongolians to dress in their national costume every 8th day of Tsagaan Sar holiday and on July 13, during the Naadam national festival, to attract world attention and feel proud of their national heritage.The movement comprised the folk art concert, a parade-show by people in the deel, a circus performance, ankle-bone shooting contest and fair of Mongolian national clothes, Mongolian ger (national dwelling), handicrafts and carvings. The biggest part of the event was the parade and some 2,500 people gathered in there.
The event was organized by the Mayor’s office of UB, the UB tourism office, the Association of Mongolian Tourism, the Ulaanbaatar Ensemble, Tumen Ekh National Song and Dance Ensemble, “Shilmel Zagvar” Agency, “Mongol Costumes” Company, “Torgo Fashion” Company, “Sound of Mongolia” LLC and “Mongol Ger Khujirt” LLC.
Then, the best were named, the foreign couple in the deel, the youngest person in the deel, the best couple of dancers, the most stunning couple and the active ones.
In addition, Songinokhairkhan district was selected the best district participated. The youngest person in the deel was three years old girl B.Misheel.
A citizen of Holland Folkert de Yager named the best foreign participant in Mongolian national costumes Deel.
