Naadam Festival Finishes
Mongolian Naadam Festival was started, when the State White Banners was led from the inner halls of Government House down Chinggis Avenue to the Central Stadium. President of Mongolia Ts.Elbegdorj began the Naadam festival with a speech from centerfield, opening the festival after that Mongolians sang a national anthem together by their heart and soul. Mongolian State Honored Actor D.Sosorbaram who acted as Chinggis Khaan, circled the Stadium with his heroes and then D.Jargalsaikhan sang a song named “Chinggis Khaan”.
The traditional dance and martial arts performed by the wizards when the parachute landing in the stadium.
“The opening ceremony of the Naadam Festival occurred fantastically and I am so proud to watch the event” said B.Naranzun (Chief of Culture and Art in the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science).
After the opening ceremony, the first round of National Wrestling began with the Mongolian State Avarga (champion), arslan, zaan, nachin (falcon) titled wrestlers.
A total of 512, wrestlers competed in the Naadam Festival, the 804th anniversary of the Great Mongolia State and the 89th anniversary of the Mongolian People’s Revolution and State Zaan titled B.Ganbat was awarded a title “Arslan” by defeating Mongolian State Champion G.Usukhbayar in the final of 9th round.
For the third time, an auction of the big khuushuur was organized by MN25 TV and sponsored by “Khaan Buuz” company in the Central Stadium, it was auctioned at a starting price of MNT5,000, sold out for MNT40,000. Kh.Bataa from Umnugobi province, took the average khuushuur.
“Oyunii erel” student’s union organized the “Clean Mongolia” event and over 500 students participate in the event, that students placed the about 70 dustbins and appealed, “let’s celebrate the naadam festival without trashes”.
Over 300 anklebone shooters from 36 teams engaged in the naadam event and six teams such as “Boroo gold, Suld uls, Dornogobi, Umnugobi, “Development foundation” team from Khovd province, and Darkhan-Uul province, qualified the semifinal. Boroo gold team won a gold medal and “Development foundation” team took the second place and Suld uls place the third place in the anklebone-shooting event at the Naadam festival.
“I am so happy to win the naadam and I want to thank my teammates,” said S.Yamaaranz, a member of winning team “Boroo gold”.
Also, thousand of people and president of Mongolia, Ts.Elbegdorj, Prime Minister of Mongolia S.Batbold and Parliament Speaker of Mongolia D.Demberel visited at the archery stadium. Traditional archery on horseback was shown to the guests and President followed the traditions and tested his marksmanship with five arrows, one hitting the target.Over 300 archers competed in three styles such as Khalkha, Buryatia and Uryankhai at the Naadam festival.
D.Erdenetuya took first place with 37 scores in the women’s khalkha archery and B.Bayarsaikhan snatched up a gold medal with 34 scores in the men’s khalkha archery event. “I am so excited to win and I waited this movement for a long time. Last year, l lost my chance to win a gold medal, so this year, I tried” said a winner Erdenetuya.
Ch.Gankhuu from Bayan-Ulgii province grabbed gold medal in the Uryankhai archery; Ts.Baasankhuu and D.Tsetseg gold medals in men and women’s Buryatia archery event.
Horseracing is important and interesting part of Mongolian National Naadam.
Azarga (a stallion race), Ikh nas (a race for 6-year-old horses), Soyolon (5-year-old horses), Khyazaalan (4-year-old horses), Shudlen (3-year-old horses) and Daaga (2-year-old horses) races took place in Khui Doloo Khudag horse racing venue on July 10-12, 2010.
Five best horses in each class get a title of “Airgiin Tav”.
Kh.Tsogtsaikhan’s azarga took first place in a stallion race. Mongolian champion wrestler A.Sukhbat’s horse placed the third in that stallion race.
68th Yokozuna and great sumo champion D.Dagvadorj’s Soyolon five-year-old horse took the fifth place and awarded a title of “Airgiin Tav”.
Such as this, Mongolian Naadam Festival, the 804th anniversary of the Great Mongolia State and the 89th anniversary of the Mongolian People’s Revolution was ended successfully.In addition, over 40 journalists from foreign countries such as New Zealand, France, Japan, China as well as Turkey, reported the Mongolian Naadam Festival 2010.
